Ensembles
The Lake Belton Band offers a rich variety of ensembles, tailored to diverse musical tastes and talents. Each ensemble brings its own distinctive flair and musical style to the band program. Traditionally, the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphonic, and Marching bands focus on classical and marching band repertoires, while the Jazz ensembles venture into improvisation and swing. During the marching season, the color guard enhances performances with visually captivating choreography. With such a diverse range of ensembles, the Lake Belton Band ensures students have ample opportunities to explore various music genres and refine their musical abilities.
Wind Ensemble
Comprising the most accomplished musicians within the Lake Belton High School Band program, the Wind Ensemble represents a blend of students from various grade levels. Known for its mastery of advanced music literature, the Wind Ensemble is dedicated to honing refined, professional skills. Throughout the school year, the ensemble stages numerous concerts and partakes in the TMEA UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest held in April. This select group actively seeks out additional musical opportunities as they arise. Members are strongly encouraged to pursue private instruction to further enhance their abilities. Furthermore, students are expected to engage in solo and ensemble performances, including "young artist" events, and are obligated to participate in TMEA region band activities.
Wind Symphony
The Wind Symphony, as the second of three concert bands within the Lake Belton High School Band program, comprises students from various grade levels. It emphasizes honing instrument-playing abilities and presenting challenging musical repertoire. Throughout the academic year, the Wind Symphony will showcase its talents in numerous concerts and will partake in the TMEA UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest in April. Students in this ensemble are strongly urged to engage in private lessons with our instructors and are also expected to take part in solo and ensemble/"young artist" performances, as well as TMEA region band activities.
Symphonic
The Symphonic Band constitutes the third ensemble among the Lake Belton High School Band program's concert bands, featuring students spanning all grade levels. Its primary focus lies in fostering and perfecting instrument-playing abilities while delivering high-caliber musical pieces. Throughout the academic year, the Symphonic Band will present numerous concerts and may optionally take part in the TMEA UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest in April. Furthermore, students are encouraged to engage in solo and ensemble/"young artist" performances and are urged to participate in TMEA region band activities.
Marching
The Lake Belton High School marching band stands as the most extensive group within our program, encompassing all students from the concert ensembles along with the color guard. Its season spans from July to November, during which it showcases its talent through halftime shows at football games and participation in marching competitions, including UIL Competitions.
Color Guard
The color guard serves as the expressive dance and visual component of the Lake Belton High School marching band. Engaging at all levels, the guard participates in football games and marching band contests throughout the autumn season, integrating seamlessly with the band's performance. Using an array of props and equipment, the dancers animate the theme and music of the show through their technical prowess and emotive performances. Additionally, the color guard showcases its talents in events year-round, including winter guard competitions.
Jazz I
Jazz Ensemble I, the premier jazz group at Lake Belton High School, comprises talented students proficient in saxophones, trumpets, trombones, piano, bass, and drums. Their repertoire spans various jazz styles, encompassing swing, blues, Latin, and funk. Rehearsals prioritize honing ensemble dynamics, fostering improvisational skills, and deepening comprehension of jazz theory. Through concerts, competitions, and community engagements, students have avenues to display their musical prowess and inventive spirit, all while immersing themselves in the vibrant heritage of jazz music.
Jazz II
Jazz Ensemble II, the second-tier jazz group at Lake Belton High School, consists of adept students skilled in saxophones, trumpets, trombones, piano, bass, and drums. They explore a wide spectrum of jazz styles, including swing, blues, Latin, and funk within their musical repertoire. Rehearsals are dedicated to fostering ensemble unity, nurturing improvisational prowess, and deepening understanding of jazz theory. For those interested in picking up a new instrument such as the saxophone or trumpet, this ensemble offers an excellent opportunity for learning. Students have ample chances to showcase their talents and innovative flair through performances at concerts, competitions, and community events, providing a platform for them to fully engage with the rich traditions of jazz music.
